Mike Piggott Art

My goal is always to transcend the simple definition of an image and find the real spirtitual connection with it.  The West brims with wilderness and history, yet it is transfixing because of how new it continues to be. In order to perceive the newness I attempt to paint, I try to abandon my entire body of knowledge about a subject. It’s how I approach the incredible place where I live. I am surrounded by these primordial mountains, yet they keep right on beckoning contemprary creativity. The immediacy of an artist’s process is how we discover individuality between painters. It unearths their quirkiness, their sensibility. I accept the challenges that make painting weird and dysfunctional. I find that is how creativity flows best.
